The Maya Yoga Studio Posted June 9, 2013

At the Road to Hana Cottages we have wonderful neighbors—like Nicki Doane and Eddie Modestini. The original studio that started the Maya Yoga movement is just across the road from us. Eddie and Nicki teach most of their classes together and offer teacher training and special yoga retreats throughout the year. Many students and visiting teachers from the studio have stayed in our cottages over the last 20 years.

Nicky and Eddie have created an amazing studio on their beautiful property overlooking the ocean and Haleakala. Their spacious studio is a warm, light filled space with cedar floor and walls and huge windows looking out over the ocean.

Maya Yoga is an approach to yoga that is inspiring and intent on serving each individual student. Many have said that Nicki and Eddie inspire people to find a place of spirit inside themselves—experiencing the profound connection between the Self and Spirit. The classes of Maya Yoga strive to teach us that “yoga is about being fully present in the moment and discovering that we are truly all One.”

Eddie Modestini has been certified in lyengar yoga and spent many years studying with Pattabhi Jois, receiving a blessing to Ashtanga Yoga. He is a master of yoga therapy.

Nicki Doane is authorized teacher of Ashtanga Yoga. Her teaching goes beyond traditional yoga and combines asana, pranakyama, philosophy and poetry.

Other gifted yoga instructors like Dominique Pandolfi and Jean Marie Kokhanovski also teach at the Maya Yoga Studio. Their workshops are very accessible and a way to strengthen and soothe body, mind and spirit. Single classes and half day workshops are sometimes available.
